When National Beer Day rolls around each year, we expect to be celebrating in taprooms over pints with friends, supporting local craft breweries. This year, COVID-19 has drastically altered how we all participate in one of our favorite regular pastimes.
As virtually all craft breweries are forced to close doors to the public, we’ve seen the struggle to keep business going. Our brewery customers, along with the rest of the craft industry, are making difficult decisions every day. Even where deemed “essential businesses,” breweries around the world have had to make quick shifts in operation as guidelines change by the hour.
For many of our customers, packaging and selling beer to-go has become a lifeline to weather the crisis. For now, we are all certainly continuing to drink, even if not onsite at our local establishments. Cans and bottles for carry-out or delivery give breweries a vital revenue stream in the absence of on-premise sales.
We celebrate National Beer Day knowing every day is beer day. Supporting craft breweries is important now more than ever.
So boost community members and craft beer industry friends by picking up that local six-pack or case as social distancing rules allow. Know that your patronage deeply impacts and encourages small businesses and the people who pour their hearts into operating them.
