The Significance of Packaging Equipment in Maintaining a Winery’s Premium “Estate Grown Wine” Designation

With vineyards located on the western slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Colterris Winery serves consumers that enjoy an active lifestyle. To give their customers the opportunity to enjoy their premium estate wines in the outdoors, Colterris decided to offer packaging in cans in addition to their bottles.

Colterris considered partnering with a mobile canning company but decided to purchase their own proprietary system to maintain their “Estate Grown Wine” designation, meaning the wine is produced 100% from grapes grown on their estate and made from start to finish at the winery. Choosing a Wild Goose Canning system allowed them to keep this important distinction and achieve the quality and consistent performance they required.

Having never canned wine before, the personal service Wild Goose provided was paramount to Colterris’s success. “Wild Goose bent over backwards to ensure our canning line met our needs,”
said Bo Felton, Colterris wine maker. “They helped us ensure our canned wine maintains its flavor and aroma and customized the equipment to meet our standards. Additionally, they are always available to help and the machine is fantastic.”

Colterris’s resulting canned wine series, “Canterris,” provides the “CANvenience” of a premium wine package that is recyclable, lifestyle-compatible and less fragile than bottles to best serve their customers.
